Voice Lessons, Audition & Monolgue Coaching
Voice Lessons
Voice lesson goals include:
-
developing & maintaining freedom and ease in vocal production.
-
building and understanding and application of healthy technique and resonance.
-
efficient breath management.
-
clear and easy text articulation.
-
understanding of musical articulation and phrasing.
-
understanding how to perform various musical styles.
-
general musicality and objective ways to convey emotion.
Offered weekly (best choice for greatest advancement), bi-monthly, monthly or in a package for a set number. Each lesson incorporates vocal exercises and appropriate song repertoire to build skills. Singing requires training of both the body and the mind with the goal of creating each individual's most free, full, resonant, natural and healthy sound. Once the voice is well produced, students can sing in any style and genre from pop to jazz, Broadway, art song and opera.
Audition Coaching
Create a powerful and confident audition performance. Go into your audition with energy and focus, not anxiety. Enhance your vocal technique and connect emotionally and powerfully to the story of the text. Practice until you cannot get it wrong. Packages for any number of lessons can be purchased with this goal in mind.
Build Your Audition Book
My students say I am uniquely gifted at matching singers with songs to which they connect and love to sing. Knowing yourself as a person helps to determine the type of roles and songs that fit you best and most effectively represent your personality and show off your voice. I will work with you to make sure you have a variety of musical theatre pieces representing different time periods and styles within the repertoire. Packages for any number of lessons can be purchased with this goal in mind.
Monologue Coaching
Strengthen your connection to the material by strengthening your understanding of the character's intentions, desires and point of view. Each session incorporates the building of skills by working on monologues from plays or television based on your interests and needs. Utilizing the best of Michael Shurtleff, Meisner and Michael Chekov, I emphasize an understanding of the play's genre, the use of motivating verbs, asking a set of specific questions about the scene and the concepts of musical articulation to aid you in creating a grounded and authentic performance.
